The Viva Shield is The Worshipful Company of Carmen’s premier award that honours innovation, improvement or development within the transport industry

which contributes, most notably, to the advancement of transport in Europe.

Mick Barber, Parksafe Group’s founder and Managing Director said: “I am delighted that Parksafe Group have been recognised for their innovative safety solutions

for the whole of the transport industry. Personally, it was a huge honour for me to receive this esteemed award and it is an unmistakable recognition of the dedication

Parksafe Group's Low Bridge Detection System (LBDS)

Designed and manufactured in the UK, Parksafe Group’s innovative Low Bridge Detection System (LBDS) can detect up to 3,764 low bridges within the United Kingdom and could prevent a significant issue for Fleet Operators.

Every year large vehicles collide with overhead bridges, research by Network Rail has found that 56% of drivers do not consider low bridges when planning their journey. As a result, these collisions endanger lives, cause disastrous delays on the road and rail networks and cost companies thousands of pounds!

When coupled with GPS, LBDS issues the driver via LED-enhanced alerts and an audible warning system that automatically activates at least 300m away from a low bridge.

The hardware installed on the vehicle carries the database offline – so no data connection is required! It requires ZERO driver input, as the height and width of the vehicle is inputted at installation!
