Falco Construction Case Study

Falco Construction are a Multi Utility Contractor who facilitate the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground infrastructure. Formed in 2004, they provide services to the Water, Power, Telecoms, and Construction sectors, specialising in delivering solutions using innovation, technology, and creativity.

OBJECTIVES:


Most of the work carried out by Falco Construction is in high-risk environments, for example adjacent to highways, railways, and live services.

 

Maintaining the health and safety of their employees and the public is a core value in their business.

 

Falco Construction were originally using a 4 camera SD card-based DVR solution, however, the camera’s used were of low quality (D1) making it difficult to capture specific details, like number plates. Both the DVRs and SD cards were found to be unreliable, with a high proportion of failures which subsequently caused an increase in insurance premiums.

CHALLENGES:

  • SD Card had to be sent to driver via post, to enable them to swap with the one in the DVR.
  • Experienced SD card degradation over time.
  • High proportion failure on SD cards.
  • Never knew if the DVR was working.
  • Increase in insurance premiums.

 

 

THE TRIAL:

To maximise the safety of vulnerable road users (VRU) and their employees, Falco Construction upgraded their fleet of vehicles with a tailored solution from Parksafe Group.
Using a 5 camera DVR (with 1TB Solid State Hard Drive) connected to a 4G unit, which streams to our cloud based ‘Parksafe On Demand’ platform, means that they now have 24/7 access to a variety of safety features, including vehicle tracking and historic video downloads.

 

The upgraded technology features 1080p Full HD cameras with wide dynamic range for forward and 2 sides in conjunction with a twin brake light camera at the rear of the vehicle, to monitor trailer and reversing angles.

Having access to live cameras and remote downloads has sped up the process of mitigating insurance claims, incidents are now able to be dealt with in minutes and hours, instead of days and weeks.
